Zencastr will lift limits for hobbyist users in response to coronavirus. This decision will remain in effect through June of 2020. Zencastr posted a short blog post with some details users should know:

A week ago, none of us used the term “social distancing”, but this is our new reality for the time being.

We know many of you aren’t able to record your podcasts in person right now since you are self-quarantined. Or perhaps you’re using your downtime to get caught up on your upcoming podcast episodes.

We want to help. That’s why, starting immediately, there will be no limits on recording hours or participants for hobbyist users. We’ll keep this in effect through July 1, 2020.

We hope this brightens your days, and helps you continue to record and connect with others as much as possible even though you may be stuck indoors.

The blog post was written by Josh and the Zencastr Team. They ended it with: Stay safe, everyone.

Personally, I think this is a really nice thing for Zencastr to do. There are a lot of people who are staying at home right now, either due to directives from their city, county, or state government, or because their employer required them to work from home.

Being unable to go outside for a long span of time can make some people sad. Zencastr is offering podcasters the opportunity to spend their time recording podcasts without having to worry about recording hour limits. I think many podcasters will use the time they are stuck at home to create more podcast episodes.
